I've been training Amateur and Professional Thai Boxers since being an asst. Instructor with my original Kru, Kru Vince Soberano of Black Tiger Gym in San Diego from 1994-1996 (when he owned it).
Since then, I've produced 2 Professional Muay Thai Champions from the San Diego County area. The first was Heath Harris "The Cowboy". IKKC U.S. and Intercontinental Light Heavyweight Champion 2000 & 2001. The second is Fabian "Monster" Zuniga. IKKC Young Guns Super Welter Weight Champion 2004. And several Amateur Champions in different weight classes.
Bill Goldberg became a student of mine during his transition from WCW to ProWrestling in Japan. He wanted to have more weapons while dealing with the Japanese fighters. After about 8 months of training, he wanted to be a part of the school and he bought into it and we have been partners and great friends every since.
I'm a traditionalist. I stick to pure Muay Thai. I do and have trained many MMA fighters with their stand up. The last MMA fighter I trained privately was Rampage Jackson. This was just prior to his management team assigning a new Muay Thai coach. There's more, but it would take too long.
Thank you,
Kru Ruben
Extreme Power Gym:
Once an individual is educated and trained properly in the areas of performance, Nutrition, Bio mechanics, Cardiovascular/Respiratory endurance training, flexibility, and specified resistance training, they should then be fully equipped to accomplish whatever goal they desire to achieve.
The Fitness programs are developed specifically for each individual based on their desired goal. Body building, body shaping, general fitness, weight loss/body fat reduction, sports specific training such as preparation for weightlifting competitions, boxing or field events are a few of the programs offered. Our programs aid in the improvement of physical performance, which in turn can lead to the betterment of sports performance outcomes.
The Martial Arts and Boxing programs that we provide are based on the very distinguished Martial Arts of Thailand, called Muay Thai., or Thai Boxing. This art is over 1,000 years old. In combat it uses both hand and foot techniques.
Old manuscripts describe 8 basic tools of Thai Boxing; fists, elbows, knee and legs. Rank and position in this system of fighting is not earned predominately by exhibiting proper protocol. Here the student must execute proper technique, exhibit heart, and produce a lot of sweat before their skill will be manifested. I have said it time and time again, the beauty of Muay Thai is that it can not be imitated. Because when it comes to Thai-Boxing,you either know it or you don't.
It is expected that the clients give their best effort at all times. With this being said, we at Extreme Power are solely committed to producing the best results possible.
